The Central Nebraska Area Service Committee met today at 107 E. 7th in Grand Island. We would like to start out by saying a lot got accomplished. The addicts attending really enjoyed the fact that things could be discussed and decided on without the bickering sometimes associated with service meetings. The first thing we did was go around and ask what expectations everyone had for the Area. This is some of those expectations as well as some ideas and decisions we made.;

• Need for less structure
• Loss of knowledge that happens on the Area level
• More participation
• Consistency
• Work on better communications with Groups
• Sponsorship and bringing someone you Sponsor to the next meeting.
• Remembering that Groups decide what Area should do, not the other way around.
• Attraction rather than promotion

We also decided a few things;

• Since we had some type of representation from 3 of the Area Groups we could make decisions as an Area.
• Monthly Area Meetings
• Moving towards a Consensus Based Decision Making Process
• For 6 months were going to announce the upcoming Area meetings with fliers.

We talk a little more in-depth about Communications between the Groups, Area, Region, and World. For the communication between the Groups and Area we decided it was to be done by addicts. Anyone attending an Area meeting has a say in everything we do. The only time we vote is for matters going on to Region and World. All other matters are decided by our version of Consensus Based Decision Making. Everything decided is flexible to avoid the long drawn out battles over policy and procedures.

The next matter was money. We had around $400 bucks in our account. After paying for the post office box and secretarial supplies, and rent, we decided to keep a reserve of three months rent ,$15/month, and split the rest up between a function in January after the Region Meeting and sending out literature to H&I in the Area. Several Addicts are going to put together a list for the next meeting. Really the only Non Consensus we had was over where to have the function after the Region Meeting. We decide to get more info and talk about it next time. We also discussed some opened mail found in the PO Box. We decided to talk to the post master.

I think that about covers it all. Looking forward to progress at the next Area Meeting Which will be the 14th of November at 1:00 and at the same place.
